BRIEF HISTORY, BACKGROUND, UNDERTAKINGS, AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Since the age of five, I had a strong passion for dance and writing. I decided to make this my career and received a degree in Fine Arts and Journalism from York University. I was fortunate enough to receive several opportunities in the field but felt limited as an artist. Therefore, I made a decision to venture out and find a career that was more rewarding and gave me enough time to start my own business. Today, I am an Early Childhood Educator, while running my own fitness brand called – Belly AB Fitness. My goal with this brand is to use dance and fitness as a medium to help people get fit while connecting the community of all generations with their inner energy through the practice of spirituality. This journey has given me several opportunities over the years. Some of them include performing at Iffa Awards, Toronto International Film Festival, Taste of India, Desi Fest, and being a guest speaker at Tedx.
WHAT FUTURE PROJECTS CAN THE COMMUNITY EXPECT FROM YOU?
I am currently working on rebranding my brand. There are major changes happening, including a name change. Belly AB fitness started a year ago, and it’s great to see how many people have shown interest. However, my vision is to take this international, and I feel there are certain things that need to be changed in order for my vision to become a reality.
WHAT DO YOU DO ON YOUR SPARE TIME? HOW DO YOU BALANCE IT WITH YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE?
During my spare time, I am either writing, working out dancing or meditating. If I am not doing one of these things, I disconnect from my inner energy and that terrifies me.
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT SOME OBSTACLES YOU FACED IN YOUR LIFE? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
When you have big dreams, you go through several emotional obstacles. For me, personally, I would say fear has been an ongoing battle. I am slowly learning how to turn my fears into positive energy and keep working towards my dreams. This goes back to connecting with my inner energy through the practice of meditation and combining my passion for dance, fitness, and writing.
WHO ARE YOUR HEROES? WHY?
I have many heroes because everyone is born with a unique energy that can help others in some way or another. I personally love people that are real and don’t like to sugar coat things. Few people that come in this category for me are Jim Carrey, Oprah, and Tony Robins.
WHAT ARE YOUR ULTIMATE GOALS?
I want to combine my talent with my brand and help people in the best way possible.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A LEADER?
In order to be a leader, you have to be a long life student. You can’t teach people if you aren’t successful at your own craft. In order to be successful, you have to constantly learn from other people, learn from your mistakes, and be fearless.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU PROVIDE SOMEBODY WHO WANTS TO FOLLOW THE SAME PATH AS YOU?
If you want to live the life you have imagined, you have to find your passion. People often run after success without knowing their passion. This is why; many of us fail to find our inner happiness. We often look at the success of other people and hope that might work for us. But the truth is, we have to connect with our inner energy and find our passion, our soul purpose. If that passion doesn’t ignite the fire inside you, then that’s not your passion. Find your passion, and the rest will fall into place on its own.
ANY FINAL THOUGHTS?
If you have a dream, don’t suppress it. It’s easy to have negative thoughts, and even easier to give up. But if your passion is stronger than your fears, you can conquer the world. Live your best life by connecting with your energy.
